Best Time to Visit & Climate:
Dry Season: December through February are considered winter and early spring months. Rates are at their highest, and the crowds are much more dense. January and February are the coolest months. Temperatures range from a high of 28-29°C (84-85°F), and a low of 22-23°C (73-74°F).
Shoulder Season: March through May are considered spring, and is the best time to visit right before the seasons change. You can find much cheaper rate, less crowds, and fantastic weather. Temperatures range from a high of 23-31°C (85-88°F), and a low of 22-25°C (73-77°F).
Hurricane Season: June through end of November are considered summer months and rainy season. Rates are at their lowest, and crowds are pretty much non-existent. Temperatures range from a high of 30-32°C (86-90°F), and a low of 23-25°C (75-78°F).
I traveled to Grand Cayman mid-May, and it was very hot & humid! When I first arrived, it was raining off and on, but soon stopped just in time for the sunset! The rest of the time, was absolutely perfect!
Sunshine Suites Resort & The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa I initially wanted to stay at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach & Spa due to it's fantastic location & stunning multimillion dollar renovation! When I started looking deeper, I found a place called Sunshine Suites Resort that was right behind The Westin (across the street)! At Sunshine, the grounds were so well-maintained, it has one of the best restaurants on the island, and it was just a short walk to The Westin & Seven Mile Beach! Come to find out, Sunshine is The Westin's sister resort! So when you book to stay with Sunshine, you have full access to all of the amenities that The Westin has to offer! With that fantastic news, I immediately booked a Studio Suite at Sunshine Suites!! My suite, #319, was very large, with a nice kitchen, and a view of the pool & well-known restaurant! I couldn't have asked for a better deal! The food really was incredible, and the access to The Westin was amazing! Their restaurants were absolutely delicious, the grounds were absolutely stunning, and it was on the ideal spot along the northern section of Seven Mile Beach! The Westin did get rather busy during the day, but I mainly spent my time at the resort during the sunrise, sunset, and sometimes for lunch! I definitely recommend this "two-for-one" deal, as it gives you the luxury of the beautiful 5-star resort The Westin, while staying at a more quaint, personable resort, Sunshine Suites Resort!
Exploring Grand Cayman There is no question why Seven Mile Beach is named one of the "Best Beaches in the Caribbean"! The crystal clear blue waters, soft white sand, and it being the perfect spot to watch the sun set into the sea, makes it such a magical beach! This is where I spent my time in the early mornings, and I felt like I had the entire beach to myself! Watching the sunset anywhere along this 5.5 mile stretch (that's right, it's not 7 miles in length, it's only 5.5 miles) is an absolute must!! In the beautiful areas of George Town, Bodden Town, and South Sound, there are hidden pieces of paradise, shipwrecks, and home to some of the most incredible homes I have ever seen! One of my very favorite beaches in all of Grand Cayman is Smith's Barcadere. Camana Bay is great for shopping, dining, or just going for a stroll. At Spott's Beach, you can see countless turtles along the grass, popping their heads up out of the clear-blue sea! A hidden paradise where the locals like to go relax, that is very unknown to most travelers (and all tourists), is The Hole! It’s a massive opening in the limestone that fills up with ocean water, which makes a private oasis to relax! At the time I went, it was not filled with water, but I will absolutely be going back with hopes it will be full of water, and will have it all to myself again! In West Bay & East End, I enjoyed West Bay Beach, the Blowhole, &Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. Around to North Side, Starfish Point, Sand Point, Rum Point, Cayman Crystal Caves, Bioluminescence Bay, and Stingray City & Sandbar are some of the most magical spots around the entire island! I would have never imagined loving Stingray City so much, but I had the best time snuggling with the massive southern stingrays! The North Side has so much charm, elegance, and beauty, it literally overwhelms your senses!
