Hatteras Island is a barrier island, part of the Outer Banks in the state of North Carolina on the east coast of the United States. Hatteras divides the Atlantic Ocean from the Pamlico Sound, and is one of the longest islands in the United States. The island is just over 85 square kilometers (33 square miles) in size, and the towns of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras Village make up Hatteras Island. Each town has such an amazing vibe, with the most beautiful emerald green water, golden sand beaches, & stunning landscapes!
I’ve spent countless hours walking the shoreline along the ocean and sound side. From sea glass to seashells, old bottles and shipwrecks, sea life, wildlife, Hatteras is so abundant with so many beautiful things, and is definitely the best part of the Outer Banks area!
Along with being able to drive on the beach in your 4x4, windsurfing, and kite boarding, Hatteras Island is one of the best places to fish along the Eastern Seaboard! Whether you're offshore, on the Pamlico Sound, at Cape Point, South Beach, Hatteras Inlet, surf fishing, or pier fishing, you are guaranteed to have a great time, with hopefully a great catch, and always a gorgeous view!
